Brigitte Schreyer was born, raised and educated
in Germany. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 and became a Canadian
Citizen in 1967. She studied Art History at Sheridan College
of Applied Art and Technology, Oakville, Ontario, as well as
a variety of painting media with various accomplished Canadian
and American artists.
Her favourite painting mediums are transparent
watercolour and oil painting. She finds most of her subject
matter nearby in familiar surroundings. She also gets inspiration
from her travels, but Brigitte's favorite landscapes are those
depicting the far north, rugged coasts and the Canadian prairies,
where she lived for many years.
Brigitte has been teaching watercolour classes
and workshops at Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced
Learning and for various Art Groups throughout Ontario and Canada
since 1978. She is recognized for her 'light and shadow' value
lessons, as well as her glazing techniques. She won numerous
awards for her work in watercolour.
She has been an invited Guest Lecturer and
Juror for many Art Groups and Art Societies.
Exhibitions: Brigitte's paintings have been
shown in many Solo and Group Shows in private and public galleries
and she participated in numerous Juried Exhibitions in Canada.
